Frequently Asked Questions

What types of files can I upload to Trinetra?

Trinetra accepts common image formats - JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP and AVIF. Every upload is verified by its actual file contents (magic bytes), not its name or claimed type, so only genuine images are stored.

Is there a limit to file size or how much I can store?

Yes. Each upload has a maximum file size, and every account has a total storage quota. Your current usage and quota are shown on your Dashboard. Administrators can adjust per-user quotas.

How does Trinetra keep my images private?

Trinetra is self-hosted - your images live on this server, not a third party. Each image is stored under its owner and is only tied to you in the admin view. Accounts can be secured with passwordless passkeys and two-factor authentication.

Can I share my hosted images with others?

Yes. Every image gets a clean, shareable link (/i/<id>) that anyone can open. The URL never reveals who owns the image.

Is there an API?

Yes. Create an API key under Account › API keys and upload programmatically. Keys are scoped: you tick exactly what a key may do (for example upload only) and can give it an expiry. The API tab has a sandbox to try requests from the browser, plus the reference: every endpoint, the permission it needs, and the rate limits.

Can I organise images into folders?

Yes. Create folders in the Gallery and move images between them. Deleting a folder leaves its images in place (they become uncategorised).

How do I secure my account with a passkey or 2FA?

Open Profile Security to add a passkey (for passwordless sign-in) or enable an authenticator-app TOTP code, and to generate one-time backup codes.

How do I delete an image or my files?

Select images in the Gallery and use the actions menu to delete them, or open an image and remove it there. Deletion is immediate and removes the file from the server.

What content is allowed on Trinetra?

Trinetra is a private image host. You may upload images you have the right to store and share. You must not upload anything that is unlawful or infringes someone else's rights - in particular:

  • content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other rights;
  • child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any other illegal content;
  • harassing, threatening, or hateful material;
  • malware, phishing, or anything used to attack or abuse the service or others.

The full rules are in our Terms of Service. You are solely responsible for what you upload.

How is content moderated, and what happens if I break the rules?

Administrators can review and remove content that violates our Terms or the law. If one of your images is removed by a moderator, you'll see a message explaining why the next time you open Trinetra, and you'll be asked to acknowledge it.

Accounts that break the rules may be suspended - a suspended account can't sign in or use the API, and its images stop being served. Where content is illegal, we remove it and report it to the relevant authorities.

How do I report content that breaks the rules?

Use the Report Abuse page - it has a short form where you can submit the link(s), choose a category, and describe the problem. You don't need an account to report. Every report is reviewed and handled confidentially.
